Just had a delightful visit with a client who drove up from Florida to pick up this oil portrait of her parents and stayed with us for a few days.
So special to see her connect so emotionally to this portrait and to have this small part in keeping their memory alive for her and her family.  A fine art portrait surely does become a treasured family heirloom.  (Dad did look a little sad in the original  photo but we managed to give him a little smile.)

A few years ago I was commissioned to paint this oil portrait of a man's mother who was deceased. I loved the lighting on the weathered face. I  painted it with a plain background and the client was very pleased. Recently I did my own portrait of this dear lady but added the garden, shed and landscape that you see here.  I now have it over my fireplace and it is one of my favorite portraits.  Perhaps you have a simple snapshot of a loved one that would give a family . . .

You could add their home, an interior, a pet or
anything that adds to their life story.

Recently did this portrait for a dear lady who sent me her favorite portrait of her husband she had recently lost.  Her daughter came to my studio to pick it up I experience the portrait artist greatest moment when I saw that tear slide down her cheek as she said
"That's my dad!"
I am adding the snapshot photo to show that you can use a "not so great" photo that you love....or that you could also choose a person out from a group photo.  You can see that the hat was changed and background removed to preserve the memory of a beloved husband. Clothing and hair can also be changed.
